If you happen to be catching a cab, from Jo’burg to Midrand…via Ivory Park….take a short-left at any spaza shop and ask about the legendary Herbal З Records. You will probably often hear the terms ‘house music’ and ‘legends’ used congruently to describe a crew of young and creative dance-music-composers and Deejays, the South African Republic has to offer.
Under the leadership of Eric Manyelo otherwise known to his supporters as “Aero Manyelo”, Herbal З Records was crafted in 2006 with an ‘old’ laptop, microphone and a plan to bring back the ‘vibe’ into the African ‘dance culture’. It was through the recruitment and sometimes the collaboration with other local talents that Herbal З Records now concoct the most elaborate league of house music Deejays and composers.
